Enhancing your employability

The Corporate Relations & Employability Unit (CREU) operates exclusively within the School of Science & Technology - the only School at City St George's, University of London to have its own dedicated unit. The unit supports both students and employers through the process of undertaking or providing placements, internships and work-based learning.

The Corporate Relations and Employability Unit aims to: The functions of the CREU

Placements, Internships and Client-Based Projects

Nearly all MSc programmes offered by the school include the option to undertake a 12-month Professional Placement, 3–6-month Internship or a 3-month Client-Based Project giving students the chance to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. These opportunities are a powerful way to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges and build practical, industry-relevant skills.

  • 12-month Placement: Start in October, after you’ve submitted your individual project.
  • 3-6-month Internship: Start in July during your final project stage.
  • 3-month Client-Based Project: Follow the standard MSc timeline. You’ll collaborate with a real company on a real business challenge.

While placements are competitive and not guaranteed, many students secure impactful roles that give them a strong advantage in the job market. By the time you graduate, you’ll leave with more than just a qualification - you’ll have the kind of experience that employers actively seek.

Note: Not applicable to MSc Maritime Operations and Management or apprenticeship routes.
