Applications for the majority of our postgraduate courses are made directly to the University via the dedicated online system accessible from the course webpages.
With few exceptions, most postgraduate courses do not have a fixed application deadline and operate on a rolling admission basis. Early applications are recommended as competition for places is strong and applications close when the course is full.
Further guidance on applying to City St George's
Entry requirements
A UK second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) is generally the minimum requirement for entry onto postgraduate courses.
For some degrees, professional qualifications and employment experience may be required, but also may be considered alongside or instead of an undergraduate degree.
Entry requirements vary by course. You can find out which qualifications we accept from your student’s home country on our course webpages.
Applicants who do not meet the standard admissions requirements for direct entry can undertake a preparatory pathways programme which will prepare them to study at City St George's.
English language requirements
Students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate that their English ability is sufficient to undertake degree-level study. In addition, all students requiring a visa to study in the UK must demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the visa application process.
English Language requirements vary by course and can be found on individual course webpages.
You can find the full list of accepted English language qualifications on our website. Please note: the scores listed on this page are the minimum requirements for a Student visa and some courses have increased English language requirements for entry so please refer to course pages for specific English Language requirements or contact the International Student Recruitment team for further advice.
Visa requirements
Most international students, including EU nationals who have not applied for the EU Settlement Scheme, require a Student visa to study in the UK.
City St George's International Student Advisers are on hand to provide expert and confidential advice on visas and immigration through the decision-making and application process, as students plan their travel to London and for the duration of their studies.
Students can apply for a Student visa up to three months before the start of their course, once they have been issued with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
They will receive this once they have accepted an unconditional offer from City St George's, passed the online Student Visa Module, and if required, had their financial documents checked.
Please note:
- The CAS process is initiated by staff members in the Admissions team. The Visa team check financial documents and make the final checks. Therefore is it recommended that agents check the status of the CAS with Admissions staff in the first instance. Please remember to add the student's ID number and full name in the subject heading of emails you send to the Visa and Admissions teams.
- The Student Visa Module must be completed by the student – another person, including an agent, cannot do this on their behalf.
Student visa applications can take up to six weeks to be processed so we recommend students apply in a timely manner. Read more about visa requirements and the application process.
Accommodation and housing
City St George's Accommodation team can help students find suitable accommodation in one of our modern and newly refurbished halls of residence located within easy reach from Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses.
With dedicated halls for postgraduate students, there is a range of choices available from self-contained studio flats to options with shared kitchens and/or bathrooms. Students can expect to pay between £220 and £295 per week.
Postgraduate students can apply for halls after they have firmly accepted your course offer. Rooms are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to the date of the housing application. Read more visiting our dedicated postgraduate accommodation application page.
Alternatively, there are many private providers of student accommodation in London, several of which are also located very close to the main campus. Students can also consider renting a flat or shared house privately. Read more about private accommodation.
Funding and scholarships
City St George's provides and recommends a range of scholarships, bursaries and loans to help students with the cost of university.
