All students on clinical courses are required to complete a health clearance and be declared fit to study and practise by the Occupational Health (OH) Department before you can start at City St George’s, University of London.
You are required to submit the Occupational Health check by 15 July 2026.

Step-by-step instructions
1. | Complete the Occupational Health questionnaire. You must submit the health questionnaire by 15 July 2026. |
2. | Within this questionnaire, you will be asked to complete a series of questions about your health and immunisation records. You will also be asked to upload any relevant documents, including immunisation report and specialist reports (if applicable). Gather all relevant reports relating to your health before submitting the health questionnaire. |
3. | Once you have submitted the health questionnaire, you will receive an acknowledgement email from the Occupational Health Department letting you know that your health questionnaire has been received. |
4. | Keep an eye on your inbox for emails regarding your occupational health status. |
Mandatory vaccinations
The following vaccinations are mandatory for all students on clinical courses before you begin your studies:
- BCG
- Hepatitis B
- Meningococcal meningitis
- MMR (measles, mumps and rubella)
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- VZV (chicken pox) - history of previous infection for a UK born national is accepted
If you do not have any of the vaccinations listed above, please contact your GP to arrange for these as soon as possible. Decisions about fitness to study and practise are made by the Occupational Health department during an appointment.
For offer holders to Medicine MBBS (all lengths), Paramedic Science BSc, and Physician Associate Studies only:
When you begin your degree (after enrolment), the Occupational Health department will take a blood test (ID-validated sample) to screen for HIV and Hepatitis C to ensure you are able to work in an EPP (Exposure Prone Procedure) environment. If this screening returns a positive result, Occupational Health will provide guidance to support you to continue on your course. You are not required to obtain this screening before enrolment.

Please register with our disability service as soon as possible with details to help us establish whether your health history or disability is likely to affect your ability to study or practise. This will also give us sufficient time to carry out a detailed assessment, obtain reports and organise additional expert assessments if required. If you have specific questions you can contact the Disability Advisor directly.
There are very few reasons why someone cannot study with us, but occasionally our Disability Advisor or a member of the Occupational Health department may advise that an applicant is not fit to study immediately which could result in a deferral or a withdrawal.
