Welcome to The City Law School
Whether you're joining us as a new undergraduate or new postgraduate, we can’t wait to welcome you.
Preparing for student life at The City Law School (CLS) involves more than just packing bags and attending lectures; it's about embracing a diverse and vibrant community and making the most of the opportunities available.
So, in these first few weeks take time to familiarise yourself with all London and your Law School has to offer, engaging with the university's support services, clubs, and societies can also help ease the transition and foster new friendships.
Making the most of your first few weeks
“We know that starting at university is a daunting experience, whether it’s for the first time as an undergraduate or on a new course as a postgraduate. You’re starting a new course, at a new university, perhaps away from home for the first time, maybe in a new city, and for many of you, in a new country.
Take the time in these first few weeks to familiarise yourself with everything that our Law School has to offer. Finding out about our support services and engaging in our clubs and societies will help ease the transition, as well as nurturing new friendships. This in turn will make the move to university less daunting.
Find your way around London too – and discover all that London has to offer! It’s a fabulous city to study in and there is so much to discover and do, as aspiring lawyers and beyond.
As I write this I’m reminded of my first days at university – across three courses and three different cities! What got me through the early days was getting out there and talking to people; meeting the people on my course. The friendships I made then got me through the hard work that followed, but also meant I enjoyed the courses and made lifelong friends.
So, make the most of your Induction weeks – not only the talks, but also the social events. Smile, talk to people; fellow students and the staff. We’re here to help and to make your time with us at CLS enjoyable, as well as instructive. We hope our Law School will quickly become a second home for you, a place where you begin, or continue, to find yourself as an adult, meet new people, learn new lessons and overcome all the new challenges you will face.”

Lawbore
Lawbore is the community site for the City Law School. As a new student, it’s a good place to get a feel for the place before you join us!
The Future Lawyer part of the site is ideal for finding out what kinds of activities our students get involved in. Watch the video introduction below to get an overview of the resource.
If you have any feedback on the site or would like to contribute, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Professor Emily Albon, Director of Legal Design.
Law societies overview
We’re lucky at The City Law School to have strong student societies who are very active. They work very hard to organise lots of professional events with engaging speakers and varied fun social evenings too.
All societies are very collaborative too, with committees working together on bigger joint events and ensuring that all their programmes complement each other, rather than conflict. Committees are made up of students from across programmes and year groups.
