Student societies

Societies are a great way to meet people who share your passions, studies, faith, cultural background or just want to try new things.

Run by the Students' Union, there are over 270 societies to choose from. Take your pick from academic and faith-based societies, to exploring art, music and special interests including debating and board games, or join political, charitable and media societies. There is something for everyone.

Sports

    CitySport Gym

    Enjoy CitySport membership from £12.50 per month, giving you unlimited access to visit the University's fully-equipped gym and free access to all group exercise class and sport sessions.

    Membership includes unlimited gym access seven days a week, unlimited fitness classes such as Yoga, Spin, Bootcamp and HIIT, sports court bookings, and BUCS UNIversal Gym membership, giving you access to more than 75 university gyms across the UK.

    Try CitySport for free from Monday 29 September to Sunday 11 October. Simply bring your Student Card and experience everything the newly refurbished gym has to offer.

    GetActive

    If you're interested in sport and want to play socially then GetActive, which is run by the Students' Union, is for you. From badminton to pickleball and dance, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved. Come alone or with friends!

    Join us between Sunday 28 September to Sunday 11 October for our GetActive Taster sessions. This is your opportunity to try out all of our GetActive sessions for FREE!

    The Wolfpack

    If you're looking to play sport competitively, then you can seek to join one of the University's 48 sports teams and become part of the Wolfpack (for Clerkenwell students), or the Dragon (for Tooting students).

    Most teams compete in either British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition or the London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL).

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to get involved in the London community, build your work experience and make new friends.

City St George's Volunteering is here throughout your degree to support you in finding the perfect role.

You can check out the volunteering opportunities available on the City St George's Volunteering website and apply directly to volunteer with charities.

Further opportunities and paid work

Paid work with Unitemps

Unitemps is the University's in-house recruitment service. It offers paid, temporary roles, helping you find jobs within the University's various departments and local businesses.

Through Unitemps you can:

  • Fit work around your studies through part-time, full-time and zero-hour temporary roles
  • Receive CV and cover letter advice, whilst also gaining experience
  • Be involved in various workplaces to suit your needs and preferences

Go green with sustainability at City St George's

Embed sustainability into your everyday life and be part of the collective effort at City St George's to create a healthier environment for people and the planet.

There are plenty of ways to get involved:

  • Signing up to the University's sustainability newsletter to hear about the latest gardening, beekeeping and sustainability opportunities, events and campaigns across our campuses. Email the Sustainability team to be added to the mailing list.
  • Visit the University garden and beekeeping sessions, which take place on the second Wednesday of every month.
  • Become a Student Sustainability Leader. The Student Sustainability Leaders Network brings together students to deliver sustainability projects across the University and within the local community. Leaders can get involved in research, planning, implementation and evaluating the impact of sustainability initiatives.
  • Join the Sustainability Society and take part in campaigns, events and social meet-ups throughout the year.
