Just like plants need care to grow, it's important to know who can support you at university. At City St George's, we have a number of support teams who will be there for you throughout your journey.

Student Support Hub

The university is here to provide you with support, whenever you need it. Our friendly advisers in the Student Support Hub are on hand to help you with any questions you have.

You can visit them in person on the Ground Floor of Hunter Wing, between the hours of 10am and 4pm 5 days a week, or contact them via email at studentsupporthub@sgul.ac.uk.

Student Health and Wellbeing

We are here to help you throughout your student journey here at City St George's. Find everything you need on our Student Hub, including our Counselling service available to all Tooting campus students. The Students’ Union also signpost a range of support, including:

  • Support for Estranged students
  • Care Leaver support
  • StudyPlus (support for study skills, revision and more)

Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy team is here for everyone. The Chaplaincy team is a multi-faith, multi-denominational team who offer spirtual and religious care to students. They offer support to everyone, welcoming every faith including those with non-religious beliefs.

The team offer:

  • support for you
  • time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings
  • a caring, sensitive and non-judgemental ear
  • religious care in response to your individual needs.

Safety at City St George's

We are committed to providing you with a safe and secure learning environment, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and free from harassement, bullying and any other unacceptable behaviours.

If you witness or experience unacceptable behaviour, you can confidentially report it online. The information you provide will be sent to a dedicated inbox that is monitored by the University's welfare team, and they will get back to you within three working days.

In an emergency, please call UK emergency services on 999 and our Campus Security on 020 8725 2841.

IT Support

Whether you're connecting to Wi-Fi, accessing your email, or need help with university software, the IT Services team is here to support you throughout your studies at the Tooting campus.

Getting Help
If you experience any issues with university IT systems, you can contact the ITAV Helpdesk by:

  • Email at ITAV@sgul.ac.uk.We aim to respond within one hour, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
  • Phone: 020 8725 5055 (for urgent AV / IT issues in teaching rooms or lecture theatres only). Our support hours are Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm

  • Logging into university systems (e.g. email, Canvas, MyProgress)
  • Connecting to Eduroam Wi-Fi
  • Troubleshooting university-managed devices
  • Accessing software and file storage
  • Printing and scanning on campus

Visit our Drop-In Clinic for face-to-face IT support. The team are based in room J0.27, and are available to help Monday to Friday, 12pm–2pm.

Students' Union Advice and Support service

City St George's Students' Union Advice and Support Service is independent from the University and offers free, impartial and confidential advice to City St George's students on a range of issues including:

  • Academic Advice – Extenuating Circumstances, Academic Appeals, Academic Misconduct, Fitness to Practice, Complaints, and Conduct and Discipline
  • Money Advice – Budgeting guidance and signposting to support
  • Short Term Loans – Interest free loans of up to £200 to help students with temporary or unexpected financial hardship
  • Guidance and support on Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Assault.

Stay City Safe

At City St George’s, your personal safety is important to us. We aim to create an environment where everyone feels safe to thrive in their studies. To help you Stay City Safe we have created a space for you to learn what you can do if something goes wrong, how to report an incident, and where to go for support.

Our campaign is all about staying safe in London and spotting signs that affect your safety. We’re here to support you and help you to understand when something isn’t right. We have gathered advice and support from safety experts at City St George’s and local partners including Islington Council and the Metropolitan Police.

There is a range of support and advice available for you, including personal safety, safe relationships, bullying and harassment, spiking and more. On this page you can access our Report + Support page where you can report issues online. You can report issues confidentially, if preferred.
