Day one: A powerful opening on the field

First up, City St George’s American Football team set the tone for the entire tournament. With intensity and precision, they delivered a dominant 12–0 victory, putting City St George’s firmly on the front foot from the very start.

Day two: Taking to Greenwich with badminton, netball, basketball, rugby, hockey and football

City St George’s continued their strong form with a 3–0 victory in badminton, while a hard-fought contest in mixed hockey saw them come out on top 5–3.

Greenwich responded with key wins in cricket, volleyball and men’s football, keeping the overall score tight and the pressure high.

As the day progressed, several defining performances shifted momentum back in City St George’s favour:

  • Netball 1’s delivered a nail-biting 46–45 victory, one of the closest matches of the tournament
  • Men’s basketball dominated with a 74–53 win
  • Men’s rugby secured a decisive 36–10 victory

Greenwich continued to challenge across multiple fixtures, including women’s football, ensuring everything remained in the balance heading into the final day.

By the end of day two, City St George’s held a narrow 9–6 lead, setting up a decisive final day at CitySport.

Day three: Deciding the champions at CitySport

With everything still to play for, the final day brought the competition back home. The atmosphere inside CitySport was electric, with supporters packing the venue and driving teams forward.

The day began with an incredible showcase from City St George’s and Greenwich cheerleading teams, getting the crowd going early, with table tennis in action throughout the day.

Game-changing performances:

  • Men’s volleyball battled to a 3–2 victory in a tense five-set contest
  • Women’s volleyball secured a confident 3–0 win
  • Women’s basketball triumphed 56–45, helping seal the overall result

Greenwich continued to push, with a dramatic futsal win decided by penalty shootout (7–6) and a strong performance in netball, but it wasn’t enough to overturn City St George’s lead.

Three action-packed days led to a brilliant victory for City St George’s sports teams, who lifted the trophy at CitySport and made it ten Varsity wins in a row, following nine previous victories against Kingston University.
