How do I apply for postgraduate study?
Applications for the majority of our postgraduate courses are made directly to the University.
To apply, visit the webpage of your intended course and click on the ‘How to apply’ tab to read more about the application process, including any supporting documentation required, and to access the online application system.
When is the application deadine?
With few exceptions, most postgraduate courses do not have a fixed application deadline and operate on a rolling admission basis. Early applications are recommended as competition for places is strong and applications close when the course is full.
I have relevant work experience - will this help my application?
It is recommended that relevant work experience in a professional setting is mentioned when applying.
You can view the entry requirements via the course pages, where work experience is required or can be used to meet the entry criteria will be mentioned.
Who do I need to contact if I have any questions or need to send additional information?
Do you offer any placements or links with industry?
The Corporate Relations & Employability Unit (CREU) operates exclusively within the School of Science & Technology - the only School at City, University of London to have its own dedicated unit. The unit supports both students and employers through the process of undertaking or providing placements, internships and work-based learning.
To achieve this, we offer a variety of bespoke work-based learning programmes, all of which have been designed to accommodate the wide-ranging and constantly changing needs of students and employers.
We run a range of modules embedded within the curriculum which offer support in creating successful applications and prepare for interviews. We offer expert guidance on CV development, cover letters, application forms, interview technique and how to deal with assessment centres.
We are continually working to source more opportunities for students who understand that undertaking a placement, internship or industry project is a critical stage of their professional development
How does the university support their students?
At City we care about our students and their wellbeing.
We have a range of resources to enhance our students’ experience, including a free, extensive library of Wellbeing Self-Help guides, CityWellbeing app and our Health and our Wellbeing team.
Are there any scholarships available?
City provides and recommends a number of scholarships, bursaries and loans to help students with the cost of university. Find out more.
Do you offer apprenticeship schemes?
Our Apprenticeship Programmes designed around work-based learning, strategically addressing your needs, and meeting skill gaps within your organisation.
We currently offer two apprenticeship programmes: MSc Cyber Security Apprenticeship and MSc Data Science Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship funding:
If you are a business with employees who live and work in England, then your employees will be able to access this course and its benefits. The programme cost of £21,000 is all or mostly covered by the apprenticeship levy scheme.
Computer Science
What resources and facilities are available?
The new City AI Lab contains the best GPU computers, latest software and tools, and the computational power needed for Deep Learning. You can benefit from access to internships across the UK through our partnership with Digital Catapult.
With over 1,300 workstations, the on-campus computer rooms offer you a range of valuable learning resources, including games development software, and the space to do your coursework and projects.
Throughout term, there will be opportunities to take part in workshops and seminars with our partners in industry to help upskill.
You will have access to the City Interaction Lab - a combined commercial and research lab. City Interaction Lab is a Digital Product Design and Innovation Studio based within the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design at City. We collect user insights and transform them into digital products that meet the needs of our clients and their target audience.
You will also have access to our Cyber Security laboratory.

Engineering
What resources and facilities are available?
You have access to extensive experimental and computational facilities including micro-gas turbine test cells, screw compressors and expanders, high-speed aerodynamic measurement test rigs and wind tunnels, 3D printers, multi-axes CNC machines, and multi-core computing clusters.
You will learn in modern lecture theatres, IT laboratories and have access to online assessment and communication tools.
There are state-of-the-art facilities on site include a flight desk and flight test simulator, an A320 cockpit procedure trainer, wind tunnels and micro turbines, as well as optical compressors and fuel injection system.
You will also have access to our specialist Heavy Structures Laboratory which houses equipment for servo-controlled concrete testing, concrete mixing and casting in large volumes and high flow computer-controlled hydraulic loading for static, cyclic, dynamic and hybrid testing of large structures.
You will have access to extensive experimental and computational facilities including electronics and biomedical engineering wet and dry labs, collaborative projects with biologists in biology labs, and facilities hosting a range of CAD and FEM Multiphysics simulation platforms.

Our courses are accredited by a range of accreditation bodies, for specific details you can visit individual course pages.
Examples of accredited courses:
- MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering has been accredited regularly by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMEechE)
- MSc Civil Engineering Structures meets the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired a partial CEng accredited undergraduate first degree.
- MSc Construction Management is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators who represent some 100,000 of the world's leading professional engineers.
- MSc Energy and Environmental Technology and Economics is accredited by the Energy Institute as the Further Learning component for Chartered Engineer and Chartered Energy Manager.
- MSc Renewable Energy and Power Systems Management is accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
- MSc Maritime Operations and Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Shipbrokers.
- MSc Temporary Works and Construction Engineering is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators.

Aviation
What resources and facilities are available?
State-of-the-art facilities on site include a flight desk and flight test simulator, an A320 cockpit procedure trainer, wind tunnels and micro turbines, as well as optical compressors and fuel injection systems. You will also have access to Virtual/Augmented Reality, AI and autonomous systems laboratories.
Are the courses accredited by professional bodies?
This programme is recognised by the aviation industry and approved by the Royal Aeronautical Society.

This professional programme recognised by the aviation industry and approved by the Royal Aeronautical Society could transform your career.
An RAF air traffic controller immediately moved into a senior training position at Eurocontrol in Brussels after completing the programme.

Are there specific requirements for this course?
You'll need to have been working within the industry for at least two years. Current students include pilots, air traffic controllers, maintenance staff and engineers. The majority have a license/professional education.
You can also enrol if you have a military background and this course is compatible with The MoD's Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS).
