What is Clearing?
Clearing is a process that allows students to find places at universities that haven't been filled yet.
Thousands of students every year apply to university through Clearing and there are a range of reasons why they do so - many think it is just due to not meeting the grades they hoped for, but it can often be because they do better than expected or simply change their mind about where and what they want to study.

When does it open?
Clearing 2023 is now open so once your child has their results, they will be able to apply for one of our available courses. It is important to remember, some results may be released at different times including IB results.
Clearing ends on 17 October however courses may close early depending on availability.

What happens on the day?
On results day, your child will need their UCAS details and their grades when calling or submitting details to universities through clearing.
If they receive a confirmation from their clearing choice, they can add this choice onto their UCAS account. The university will double check the grades and check any other eligibility criteria before sending over an official confirmation.

Top tips
Results day can feel very stressful and challenging so it's important to remain calm and try to prepare beforehand.
Remind your child to have the following details ready before submitting City's webform: their UCAS ID, course number of interest and qualifications.
